Crane Hook Block Components

A crane hook block primarily consists of several simple components, including the hook, nut, thrust bearing, crossbeam, and pulley.

Hook body: Made of alloy steel forging, heat-treated and precision-processed, with strong load-bearing capacity, in line with FEM (European Mechanical Handling Association) or DIN standards.

Pulley block: Usually with 2~6 pulleys, made of high-strength cast iron or nylon, to reduce wire rope wear and improve transmission efficiency.

Bearing system: Use sealed rolling bearings (such as deep groove ball bearings or tapered roller bearings), flexible rotation and maintenance-free.

Safety device: Include a tongue (safety lock) to prevent rope detachment, overload protection with real-time load monitoring, and rigorously engineered connectors (hook nuts, crossbeams) to prevent loosening.

Types of Crane Hooks

It is classified into single-hook and double-hook types based on its shape.

• Single crane hook block: When the lifting load does not exceed 75 tons, a single hook is suitable for use, as it is simple and easy to use.
• Double crane hook block: When the lifting load exceeds 75 tons, a double hook is recommended, as it has a higher load-bearing capacity.

The classification of crane hooks is extremely extensive and generally includes: lifting rings, round rings, pear-shaped rings, long rings, combination rings, S-shaped hooks, nose-shaped hooks, American-style hooks, sheep's horn hooks, eye-shaped hooks, ring screws with safety latches, and chain shackles.
