In order to reduce the compressive strength between the chain links and the contact surface between the chain links and the sprocket , the pulley size of the electric chain hoist is relatively small. At the same time, due to its small size, the chain can be stored additionally, so the electric chain hoist has a greater lifting height.

The larger the diameter of the electric wire rope hoist's drum, the less force is required to support the load on the wire rope itself. To ensure the safety of the wire rope, the drum diameter is typically 16 to 20 times the diameter of the wire rope. As a result, the electric wire rope hoist is lower to the ground and the lifting height is also reduced.

Electric chain hoists only have one chain to bear the weight. Although the chain is generally made of high-strength alloy, the lifting capacity is still very limited.

The wire rope of the electric wire rope hoist is made of multiple strands of steel wire. It is highly tough and wear-resistant and has a very good load-bearing capacity.

Electric chain hoists are usually used in low-load scenarios, such as logistics sorting, lifting and handling of goods in factories, warehouses, docks, etc.
