Project Overview

In May 2025, we received an email inquiry from a construction company in Bolivia regarding a truss gantry crane. The company was building a government-affordable housing project in La Paz and needed to hoist precast concrete wall panels and floor slabs on a large scale. Among them, a single precast concrete wall panel weighs 8 tons. The original truck crane had low efficiency, large site occupation, and severe power attenuation in the plateau. The customer requires two truss gantry cranes that can operate at high altitudes, have flexible spans, and can be quickly installed and disassembled, thereby improving the installation accuracy and speed of prefabricated components.

Project Challenges

Plateau environment: La Paz is at a high altitude, and the air is thin. Engine power tends to drop.

Venue restrictions: The installation area is narrow, and the device needs to be compact

Stable operation: Prefabricated panels are fragile, crane needs to operate smoothly and without shaking.

Logistics Transportation: Bolivia is a landlocked country, and needs to arrange reasonable modes of transportation.

Operational aspects: This is the first time for customers to operate such equipment.

Nucleon Solution

Nucleon's technical team then quickly developed a set of perfect solutions to show the customer.

Customized design: Nucleon customized two truss gantry cranes for customers.

Span Adaptation: with a span of 30 meters to cover the entire operating area.

Equipped with a matching engine: Truss gantry crane uses a turbocharged engine specially designed for plateaus, a low-temperature start-up design for the hydraulic system, and an increased radiator area.

Special structure: Truss structure reduces weight and wind resistance.

Frequency conversion control: equipped with a frequency conversion drive and PLC control system, it realizes stepless speed regulation and ensures smooth and accurate prefabricated board docking.

Modular Split: The main structure adopts a modular segmented design for easy transportation.

Packaging: Equipped with professional shockproof packaging and anti-rust treatment to prevent product damage caused by bumps and seawater corrosion during transportation.

Installation and commissioning: 3D installation animation and bilingual manuals were provided, core components were assembled and tested in advance, and Nucleon engineers provided on-site guidance to ensure that both devices were installed and commissioned within 7 days.

Safety devices: Equipped with an overload limiter, limit switch, and alarm device to ensure the safety of two truss gantry cranes when operating simultaneously.

Customer Feedback

Project Director Carlos Mendez said, "These two Chinese gantry cranes have completely changed our work efficiency! Increase work efficiency by 50%. The efficiency is amazing. All indicators are beyond my expectations. The Nucleon team's expertise and efficiency have given us a new understanding of 'Made in China'!"

Conclusión

The 10-ton truss gantry crane project in Bolivia successfully demonstrated the excellent performance of Nucleon's high-end lifting equipment in extreme environments and precision operation scenarios. Nucleon is committed to providing global customers are "adapted to local conditions" with solutions.
